John – the first participant at New Hope

John has Moderate to Severe Cerebral Palsy. We came to New Hope in March 2014 and John was their first rider. John met Sapphire and it was love at first sight. Even though John has an IQ of 41 and will never walk he is equal with any rider on his horse. When John loves something it is absolute, no strings or conditions.

Every week we count down the days ‘til we see his horse again. His progress is amazing! His posture is straight and riding helps his core muscles and balance. John has an outlet all his own that he can look forward to and share with anyone who walks by. As a mother of a child with special needs it is hard to navigate the slim choices there are for him and his future. The people that help him here and run this place are so in tune with his special needs. God is truly here and blesses this place.

New Hope is just what the name says… a new hope for John and people like him. – Suzanne
